• Welcome to Telemedicine!

Telemedicine offers remote care for patients through telecommunication technologies

  • What is telemedicine?

Telemedicine is the use of technology to remotely care for and connect with patients. Frequently, telemedicine refers to online video consultations with a veterinarinarian and client/patient. However, this practice also encompasses texting, emailing photos or videos, or phone calling with any updates or questions. Telemedicine is especially useful for post-surgery monitoring and any frequent rechecks. Additionally, telemedicine minimizes exposure between clients and staff, an extremely important endeavor amidst the global coronavirus pandemic. The goal is ultimately to stay connected with clients and provide safe and convenient care remotely.

    When should I use telemedicine?

Generally, mobility and safety determine whether a client should use telemedicine. If clients are unable to transport patients to our hospital due to their condition, telemedicine allows our veterinary doctors to observe and diagnose patients remotely. Moreover, because house visits are increasingly infrequent with the Coronavirus pandemic, virtual appointments provide a safe alternative for very sick patients to receive socially distanced care. If clients themselves are unable to travel, lack adequate transportation, or feel more comfortable receiving remote care because of the Coronavirus, telemedicine may also be a viable option to consider.

  • Here's How it Works:

    1

    Call to make an appointment

    • This is booked just like a regular appointment!
    • Choose your app - FaceTime, Google Duo, Skype, or WhatsApp
    • We ask clients to participate in a brief test call before the appointment to ensure that the video and audio connection works correctly
    2

    Consult with a Doctor

    • During the appointment, show the doctor any relevant materials (i.e. collected feces/urine, behavioral changes)
    • Feel free to ask any additional questions during your consultation
    3

    Discuss plans

    • Upon evaluation, the doctor may recommend bringing your pet into the hospital for further examination
    • Medications may be prescribed
    4

    That's it!

    • We want to provide the safest and most accessible care for our patients
